Petition against Bush care-less attitude towards global warming!

As I came across this picture from jollygreengirl’s blog, I was like “wow!”. A picture really speaks a thousand words! LOL… The threat of global warming is real enough, but governments of the major countries such as United States are taking a stand that doesn’t seem to care less! I had previously seen the show ‘Inconvenient Truth’ by Al Gore, and it really hit the nail right on its head! Fancy putting someone who isn’t a scientist up to be the leading voice in global warming in the United States! For god‘s sake, it’s analogous to asking an swimming coach to coach an athletics’ team! How in the world the swimming coach can train the athletics’ team, much less give advice to it?! Don’t know what the Bush administration is thinking. Thank god he is not going to win in the next U.S election.

In view with the global warming theory, I personally think that global warming is definite, with or without human interferences. If you look at the paleoclimatic history of Earth, ever since the last dinosaur died out, Earth have been going through a series of cold and warm cycles. Ice age follow by the warmer interglacial period – no doubt about that. Our last Ice age ended like 10,000 years ago, and we are currently in the warmer interglacial period, which will only get warmer. However, we as human have been catalyzing the process of warming… bringing Earth to a much hotter climate at a much faster rate than nature has planned for it. Thus we are upsetting the climatic system. As climate works to distribute and balance up the energy within Earth atmosphere, an upset in the climatic system can have serious climatic consequences. Even if the climate does eventually manage to balance itself up, but I fear that life might be on the verge of extinction by then! Human life of course. Prevention is better than cure!

Anyway, for all of those who are concern about global warming, and Bush’s intention of not doing anything about it, please sign an online petition against global warming! From 6-8th June, leaders of the biggest polluting country e.g. U.S are meeting for the G8+5 meeting in Germany. Petition and pressure Bush to start taking climate change seriously! Else, we might not even have a future 50 years down the road!

Unfortunately, there is a mindframe of the older generations that today's problems are to be handled by future generations. Unfortunately, that offers little help to those of us trying to make a difference now. =)
